You marked this: "Forbid activity of the users with unconfirmed e-mails" that's why.

To un-mark: Control Panel -> Users -> Module Settings.

Users of my site can't edit their own posts or threads. I've searched in users groups permissions and the option for editing own messages and threads is checked. But the edit button is missing. What's the problem ?

1.go to control panel » Users » User groups » Guest » click forum » Mark the options that you want your guest to be able and not to be able to do.
2. for your deny guest message. go to control panel » Customize Design » Users » "Access Denied" Page » find where it says Guests are prohibited from viewing this page. Please, authorize yourself.
change it your own wants, then save.

{owner}brandon, When you create a forum set the permission for the groups using "Forum entries may be read by".

hello I would like to enable HTML for the registered user forum for the editor as to allow better character and quality of the item created by the user.

jesuli, you can do this in Control Panel -> Users -> User groups. But be attentive as users will be able to do harm to your website.

basically i would like to ask if it is possible to give a certain group of users permission to certain threads? I dont particularly want to setup a whole new section for one thread, nor do i want to move it to another section where other usergroups can also see it.
OTHERWISE, is it possible to clone threads, and move one of the cloned ones keeping the other in its original spot?

There is no such feature.

esp-css, as far as I know - no. I do not think this feature is really useful.
