Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to change the smileys near the reply form for my own, in order not to go to the full list of smileys?
- No, those are standard emoticons, they cannot be changed.

May I add my own smileys?
- Yes, you may. Create a sml folder in File Manager and upload there your smileys. Only .gif format is accepted, number of smileys is 100. Standard smileys will remain, new smileys will be added to them.

How can I remove smileys from the list of All smileys?
- Forbid users to use smileys (see the permissions of the user groups).

Why are there no 3D smileys in the default sets?
- There are. Pay more attention to the list.

Is it possible to remove standard smileys?
- No.

Is it possible to write added smileys as tags, e.g. ""?
- No.

Will the smileys from the folders sml2, sml3 work?
- No.

How can I add my own smileys to the standard collection?
- Use Smileys editor.

I’ve added 16 own smileys. But when I want to change them they remain the same. What should I do?
- You can't edit smileys. You should remove them and add new.

Is it possible to automatically substitute smileys, after they have been updated, in all written posts ?
- No.

Is it possible to limit the use of smileys in posts?
- No. You can only forbid using them at all.

Aros, yelling? How is it possible to yell here? I did what people told me to do.

I suggest you to watch your attitude. It wont end up good even if I know you.
And this is really bad time when to check my patience level. Only warm hint.

Jaffakeksi, I guess that's because you have only one smiley in your smiley editor. Tried to add more?

Yes, I've tried. I had about four or five smileys there, but I deleted them, cause they didn't work.

Sunny, Do "Custom" smileys need to be in a certain format, I see most smileys as .gif so that may be Jaffa's problem if they need to be a certain format.

Jaffakeksi, try to create a whole set, not just several smileys.

iLee, yes, only .gif format.

lightness, that's because you added smileys to Smiley editor from the "sml" folder. If you create a custom set you must give any other name to the folder but not "sml".

Thank you so much sunny!
i didn't think it's that easy. happy

Well, I added 35 smileys and I still get the message saying "your custom set of smileys is empty" when I change to custom set from common settings. All smileys are GIFs. Is there any way to make them work?

Jaffakeksi, ok I have checked it myself. It works even with 3 smileys but you must check "Show this smiley near the form" at least for one of them. Otherwise it doesn't work.

It may happen if you add a post and enable HTML tags.

Hi, I just want to ask if the forum icons (e.g. br_new, f_hot_new) have to be on .gif form. Because you know...if you save an icon in MS Paint in the .gif extension, the colors gets ruined. >_< So I've saved my icons on .png. The same goes for the buttons (new thread etc.), it's not in .gif. ^^;

Thanks in advance! biggrin
