What's the code for the count of blog entries?

I know that the code for the photo entries is $NUM_ENTRIES$, but why isn't it working on the blog module?

YamiTatsuro, this code is not available in the Blog templates. You can use Informers - Per module entry counters. Just delete from the informer template everything except the blog codes.
