Can i safely move all content from one design to another |
Ah right bravo we got there in the end this is what i wanted to know all along phew that was hard ......
One small further question then just before i go and make a mess off all this is this so if "Update the design for all active modules" will change this design currently 401 back to its basic state will this mean that i will have no changes at all now pre this design either as i have had several designs before this one that were not changed in this way ??? what i am worried about here is that if i made the changes pre using 401 will they transfer to the all new 401 design if that makes sense ??? Quote (t4club) what i am worried about here is that if i made the changes pre using 401 will they transfer to the all new 401 design if that makes sense ??? No, they won't. You will have the default 401 design without any changes. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Please contact other forum staff.

Sunny it seems you are indeed correct i have tried this with one of my other sites and all works as you state however a small point and one which i was very concerned about was thus maybe you can help me with it also as it hasnt changed at all when changing designs:
1- When changing from design as you say agreed it seems most things change with it which is great.......however my members user permissions are staying the same how do i reset all these to default setting/s Peace and Out VW T4 - T5 Transporter community website and forum group at www.t4club.co.uk

Quote (t4club) 1- When changing from design as you say agreed it seems most things change with it which is great.......however my members user permissions are staying the same how do i reset all these to default setting/s You wrote that you wanted the permissions not to be touched. Well... the only way is to create a new default website and to mark the permissions on your current website in accordance with the default permissions. Unfortunately there is no automatic feature to do this. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Please contact other forum staff.

You misunderstood i meant the users settings i didnt want touched as in my members personal settings/ what i need in default mode is all settings pertaining to use of said website.....
Ok so i swop as you say which defaults all design settings yes? and i would then require to manually note all users/members settings to default for that design is this what you are telling me ...... so reverting back to my starting question it seems that then the answer is in fact NO ?? ALL settings excluding images, posts and such like can not be reset by changing designs am i right in both presumtions then ..... ??? Quote (t4club) ALL settings excluding images, posts and such like can not be reset by changing designs am i right in both presumtions then ..... ??? By resetting you design, you reset ONLY design (i.e. all templates that are available in "Customize Design" section). All other settings remain untouched. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Thank you so a manual change is what is required back to the settings that this design came with ........ not to hard i wouldnt of though simply surely copying all settings from the new one pre changing the design noting and changing them back once changed should do the trick i would of thought ???
I.e if i note where they are as defauly say users are allowed to a-b- but not c- d and allowed e all the way through the settings should then return this template to essentially its default state yes ?? VW T4 - T5 Transporter community website and forum group at www.t4club.co.uk

Yes. But please do not confuse things, template is template, and settings are settings. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Please contact other forum staff.

Yeah but by coping the list of users settings from the default in pen & ink i will be able to then reset the new template to that and reset from there what needs changed i am hoping i am still playing with my secon dsite which is fortunately still in build so doesnt matter for now ......
Again thank you for your invaluable information i am sure i am clear in my mind as to what i must now do to rectify things until the next time Peace and Out VW T4 - T5 Transporter community website and forum group at www.t4club.co.uk
