[b]This was on a computer with a very crappy video card. as a matter of fact, it was barely good enough to support minecraft itself.

the reason why i dont play it any more is because.. i think that it is...
it doesnt entertain me any more.

You seem to be using a texture pack. Have you tried NOT using them? Also, the latest version is 1.2.5 so I think there's been significant changes.
