Ohh okay.
So contrast is making a come-back then. Interesting considering it's one of the main principles of design. Yeah, I read an article a few months ago on the use of spacing and design. The writer was pointing out how a lot of designers appear to be using minimal white-space in their designs and on their websites. He was sort of getting at that fact I think. Mayweather? :? Sports or..?
Oh, well, people aren't using it any more. White-space is what some designers call "blank space" So like padding, margins, just blank space on a canvas/page etc. People a while back started to keep everything very close and together so they were designing without a lot of white-space.

Paradox, So if I used 980px with auto margin. And I'm viewing it in a 1500+px monitor. Is that considered a lot of whitespace? xD
And another thing! The red header on dashboard. Is it fixed on IE? I mean, does it go from left to right? As for my headers, my css is width:100% and left 0px - right 0px. Will that work on IE properly? Argh, I can't explain it properly. >.< Added (2012-05-06, 0:12 AM) |
13053121k0, you can also create a tile image, so by using repeat-x, it tiles all the way from left to right.
Such images often look like this I'm most positive that this method works in IE without problems. Proud uCoz user since 2006

Acid, Yep. Tried that. Though the user/admin bar messes up the design because it pushes up the content of the page down. But the background isn't pushed down.
As for the dashboard, I think it isn't tiled. I'm just wondering what method Paradox used. Acid, What method did you use on diversus? |
13053121k0, well, don't start contradicting our design principles here.

About 10px wide. The css for it is actually a little scrambled if you aren't use to it. I have the base .menu class defining the standard background, width, height, font etc. Then inside of that I have links which are all floated to the left, these are all again styled to the px'l as if the padding is off the background images won't match. Then there's all the special links and classes which align the drop down and images etc. If you want I will post the CSS on the Dash forums for you.

13053121k0, haha. Check on dash. I'd prefer not to display it all over the internet. Keep it contained.
Anyhows, how has everyone been?

13053121k0, sounds not too bad.
Well, learning to multitask, haha. I'm working on the new forum design for Dash, listening to music and flicking between an ASP.NET system thing I've decided to build.

13053121k0, haha, music keeps me sane at times. Saves me chucking the laptop at the wall when something I've programmed or one of the programs doesn't work. xD
Uhm... It would have been, what, September 2010 more full-time. Maybe a little earlier with learning and experimenting. Wbu?

Mugen_Boy, hey!
Don't stress the off-topic. That's the point of this thread I guess. If you are meaning like the red, green, blue and grey boxes here on the site they are made using CSS. They are essentially in markup; Code <div id="blue">Blah</div> With styling applied to them using CSS.
