FTP Upload 421 ERROR

Hello,

I am trying to upload a file on my FTP server but it giving me sometimes an error

421 Timeout (no new data for 900 seconds)

what's exactly is this and how can i stop this error?

The website is westorcenter.ucoz.com the file extention is .log file (25 chars file name) and about 8-9KB file size.

same problem on 17 chars file name.

^WeSt, .log files can be uploaded just fine via FTP. Please try the following:

1. Make sure the passive mode is enabled in your FTP client.
2. Temporarily disable your antivirus.

If nothing helps, provide the exact name of the file you are trying to upload.

Passive mode is OK

About the antivirus i am using Avast! but i don't think this is blocking something because as i said this is happening sometimes and not all the time, e.g: of 20 FTP send the 5-9 will be 421 error.

Attention: i am trying to use the Windows FTP Command Line but the windows does not support the Passive mode.

So i am thinking the problem is on the FTP server.

filename: fd_100.log

Question: is there any option or any way to disable the Passive Mode? because i think the problem is from there!

What's the point to use an other FTP Client i am using my own build FTP Upload client code to upload files, i made an other way to upload the files without the windows method, using SOCKETS, but the problem on yours FTP servers is when the 421 error code returned sometimes the file uploaded with success so somewhere there is an problem.

^WeSt, do you appropriately open and then terminate your existing sessions while using FTP? If you have created your own uploader this may be something you've overlooked.

I advise you use a tried and tested FTP client as a control test at the least - if you do not encounter the 421 error then we can confirm it is an outcome due to a conceptual error within your programme architecture. If you do, we can then look at possible gateway errors on our end.

^WeSt, we can't assist until you start accepting our help and advice.

Please use a tried and tested FTP client. The software you are using from what I can determine isn't a standard client, try using a standard FTP client and we can determine further action from there.
