Well basically, on my site - cherrymovie.do.am , i recently changed the site catalog category from 'free online movie streaming' to categories like 2010, 2009, 2008 so on and so forth, so now when a user searches they get the error

Page Not Found (404)
Page "http://cherrymovie.do.am/dir/free_online_movie_streaming/the_other_guys/1-1-0-7" not found.

Because the category has changed, so has its location, now im wondering... Is this going to be a major problem? Will it fix its self, does it re-index the whole site, or just pick up new links? Because if not i have to wait something like 2 months or whatever to change my robots.txt, so there won't be any search bar, that meens my site will be useless for 2 months or weeks or whatever it is.

Any suggestions would really help, thanks in advance.

Where exactly do they search? On search engines like Google or via the search form on your website?

Its the search form on the site, thats why its a problem, i can't use google because its like 2 weeks or 2 months till you can change the robots.txt, so whenever you submit a sitemap, obviously it fails, it would be fine it i used google search because on google webmasters i could just re-index and re-submit the sitemap.

AlexLangley, I am afraid you will have to edit the entries manually and change "The name to be displayed in URL", then they will be reindexed.

It is 30 days.

Oh right, i edited all mine so that it was easy to submit links, so i don't have this option, i edited the category link to be displayed, but thats had to put /1 /2 /3 at the end of the categories, do you think you could send me the code for 'Name to be displayed in url' ?

AlexLangley, I wonder how you managed to remove this field. Did you disable friendly URLs in Common Settings?
