I am trying to upload some photos to my site and I'm getting a connection error 408. Please could you explain the reason for this error, or advise where I can look up the meaning of error codes.

I've not had this problem before.

Many thanks.

The 'Error Code 408' is due to the browser taking longer than usual to load a page. This might be because your internet strength is low. Possibly because your internet cannot load large images.
Kind regards,

Thank you very much. It may be a temporary problem because of the awful weather - I'll try to be patient!

I've uploaded these photos to an image hosting site without any difficulty, so I think this error must just be a symptom of another problem. And when I add them to my site as an internet link it works fine.

So does anyone have any other ideas about what the problem could be.

Thanks.

Thanks for your help Natashko - my website is: http://www.thebakerboy.ucoz.com/

From the Photo Gallery page, I'm clicking 'New Photo' which takes me to the 'Adding Entry' page. Using the 'File on your computer' setting I'm browsing to a photo (.jpg), entering a photo name (which is not unique) and clicking 'Add'. It hangs for a while, then I get the error message.

Pru, you uploaded the photos correctly. So the problem couldn't be occurred by it.
By all appearances the problem is at your end. For testing purposes try to work from another copy of operating system, another computer and, if possible, using another network provider.
If you do not have such possibility, then it is desirable to do the following actions step by step:
1. Disable your firewall, antivirus while running diagnostics;
2. Disable the traffic saving services (e.g., Traffic Compressor);
3. Disable the torrent client or any other services that can create a lot of connections, if any;
4. Try to use another browser or update the current one.
5. Make sure that cookies are accepted by the browser, clear the cookies history; check whether JavaScript is enabled in your browser; clear the cache (temporary files) of the browser
