Update Freezing when trying to change the HTML |
Hi There,
Well, I can get though to the bits I need to change, both from the Control Panel and the Design menu as Administrator, but once you s therechange it and press the "Save" button, it just sits there "Transmitting Data" forever and nothing gets changed..... Any Ideas? |
titans, If your internet connection is low it might be that

Thanks for the quick reply Animorph.... I know the Internet is pretty slow, but it is allowing all the other updates to User groups etc. without a problem..
I've just tried emptying the cache and it didn't help. Just tried the same operation on my Older UCOZ Site and that worked pretty quick..... this is on a new one set up yesterday. |
titans, hmm , well i can only say that i had that problem with a test site , i was also not able to Save anything in template parts , but it went over in a few days for me , i do not know if this problem happened to many more people , so you need to wait for an admin on this
Goodluck with this To busy building a passive income online ;)

titans, first of all provide a website name so we will be able to check
Second of all, follow these instructions. They must help. For testing purposes try to work from another copy of operating system, another computer and, if possible, using another network provider. E.g., you can check your website from one of Internet clubs as they meet all the mentioned conditions. If you do not have such possibility, then it is desirable to do the following actions step by step: 1. Disable your firewall, antivirus while running diagnostics; 2. Disable the traffic saving services (e.g., Traffic Compressor); 3. Disable the torrent client or any other services that can create a lot of connections, if any; 4. Try to use another browser or update the current one. Maybe some necessary browser functions are disabled or are working incorrectly. If your Internet Explorer version is less than 8 – install latest Windows updates, or install Internet Explorer 8 as a separate package; if you use Opera version less than 10.60 or Firefox less than 3.6.3 – update the browser. 5. Make sure that cookies are accepted by the browser, clear the cookies history; check whether JavaScript is enabled in your browser; clear the cache (temporary files) of the browser |
Thanks Natashko.
The Website is http://www.darkphalanx.ucoz.com. It is one that I have set up recently for our Gaming guild alliance (our Guild has been using uCoz for a long time http://www.titans.ucoz.com/). I would have given you hyperlinks, but the Forum won't allow those BB Codes. I can't get to another computer etc., but I will ask a fellow guildmate with admin privilidges to try as well. Since he is in the netherlands, it should be different enough All the rest of the stuff, i've checked already It may be of interest though that I can successfully and easily update both the TITANS website (pre-uNet) and the Karaknorndestro website (early uNet) with no problem from this machine, however the brand new Darkphalanx website will not. As an aside, from a gamers perspective, I was quite disappointed that the "Local User" option is no longer available on the free package. This made admin a lot easier, ass you had control over who could see the information on the site, now it is a little more complicated, as all of uNet can login... need to find a good way of keeping them out :D. Also the Guildmembers aren't too happy about having to get a uNet account.. they were used to the Local User way... |
titans, we have checked your website and we succeed in adding new materials to it. So the problem has to be at your end. Maybe you do something wrong when chnaging design. Specify your actions so we will be able to understand the problem. A screenshot will be useful.

Thanks... wierd that it is only this uCoz website and not the others playing up. OK, I still have to get my Dutch Friend to try it out, but at the moment I'm still no further forward, in fact I keep getting errors back from the server when trying to do simple things like add a Post in the Forum....
Errors like :
Code ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.darkphalanx.ucoz.com/forum/ The following error was encountered: * Zero Sized Reply Squid did not receive any data for this request. Generated Thu, 16 Dec 2010 19:40:58 GMT by pcl-iwfcache04.plus.net (squid) I presume that the Forum mechanism for my uCoz site is the same one used here.... there is no way a message of this size would go onto the darkphalanx site without failing. (but I can enter it here from the same laptop??) Anyway... In order to duplicate what Fails for me.... 1 - enter the "Builder" or "Control Panel" Code <td align="left" width="357"><img src="/.s/t/601/1.jpg" border="0"></td> Code <td align="left" width="243"><img src="/9a.jpg" border="0"></td> 4 - Press the "Save" Button. Then wait whilst it is in the state "Transmitting Data" forever I've been changing the layout of my uCoz Websites for around 4 Years now, and this is the first time I've hit any issues. As I have also said, from the same Laptop, same Browser, same IP Address and within seconds of each other, I can happily edit the appearance of the other 2 uCoz websites that I currently have active, so though I appreciate that your investigations lead you to, quite reasonably, think the problems are at my end, the things I can do here lead me to think that they are with this particular website or the server. I do appreciate your efforts thanks P.S. Just to add to the wierdness, I just registered darkphalanx.ucoz.net.... and it lets me change everything I want to (well, apart from having Local Users ) P.P.S My Dutch Guildmate with Admin privileges can update the site (now to feed him the HTML), so it must be something about my IP and that site I guess? titans, again I checked and I again I was able to post a thread on your forum. Please, specify, what from the mentioned above have you done?
(1. 5. Make sure that cookies are accepted by the browser, clear the cookies history; check whether JavaScript is enabled in your browser; clear the cache (temporary files) of the browser ) Maybe you skipped something? Try to use another browser or the special customized browser packages from uCoz. |
Hi Natashko
Quote (Natashko) titans, again I checked and I again I was able to post a thread on your forum. Please, specify, what from the mentioned above have you done? (1. Disable your firewall, antivirus while running diagnostics; Did that
Quote (Natashko) 2. Disable the traffic saving services (e.g., Traffic Compressor); Not running any as far as I know
Quote (Natashko) 3. Disable the torrent client or any other services that can create a lot of connections, if any; Don't use Torrents, so no client installed on my PC (or on my network)
Quote (Natashko) 4. Tried on both Firefox (3.6.13) and on Internet Explorer (8.0.7600) All Windows updates are complete (Windows 7 - 64 Bit). Have also tried from a different computer running XP, with the same version of Browsers.
Quote (Natashko) 5. Make sure that cookies are accepted by the browser, clear the cookies history; check whether JavaScript is enabled in your browser; clear the cache (temporary files) of the browser ) Done all of that too.
Quote (Natashko) Maybe you skipped something? Try to use another browser or the special customized browser packages from uCoz. As I said in my previous post, I registered a new website and that works with no problems at all. That website is also hosted on the same Server at uCoz as the one I am having problems with, so I don't think it is either the configuration I have here, or the uCoz Server itself. The website appears to be working well for others accessing it, so it is rather strange. The only thing I can think of still to try is to force a referesh of my External IP Address and see if that is causing the issue. Added (2010-12-17, 8:35 Am) Just tried the website and it is responding normally to me now... I can do updates without a problem (fingers crossed) and I'll try sending a PM to see if that is working. I haven't changed anything at my end..... though it is quite possible that my External IP has been re-issued since I tried last night (never got around to forcing that, and since it is working, I don't think I'll try )
Quote (Animorph) hmm , well i can only say that i had that problem with a test site , i was also not able to Save anything in template parts , but it went over in a few days for me Looks like that is the solution Wierd though it may be! Guys and Gals (especially Natashko), Thank you for the time and effort you have put into this. I know it isn't an easy job to try and figure out where a problem like this occurs, and I do really appreciate your Efforts. Thanks again |
