I'm trying to get the same result as the 'read-more'/$cut$ functions in the Site News module,
Whereby, I want the 'Ad Board Module Main Page' to show a restricted amount of detail (preferably ad-text) per Ad and then the 'Ad Board Page with entry....and comments' to show the full details of the ad. It appears that the read-more/$cut$ function does not appear to be available in the Ad Board module, hence I tried to manually split my text between the ad-text and entry-full-text fields, but the entry-full-text field does not appear to be displayed on any of the pages when viewing. Additionally the 'Max length of Ad-text' within the module settings appears to have no effect at all. i.e. I set this to a low number but was allowed to add (and view) text with more characters than I'd set. With my limited knowledge of html, I think I can get the desired results by customising the templates but I am just checking that html really is the answer to these issues and that my understanding is correct. Another option is to use ad-text (which uses $BRIEF$ code). You can limit the number of characters of that in the Module Settings. explore more. As stated, I don't think the 'limiting no of chars ' works?????? - Is this a bug? I just need to check that these 'issues' are real and not a mis-understanding on my part, before i jump into an html solution to the displaying of entry-full-text and a manual control of the no of chars displayed in ad-text. |
