Ratings not working for second user

Whilst I accept the site catalog rating works differently (by default) to the other modules I am confused as to why the ratings is not working for all modules. I have tried all the one'slisted above.

When I am logged in as administrator (my account) - I am able to rate all the entries, as long as they have not previously been rated.
When I am logged in as a user (my partners account) - I am able to rate all the entries, aslong as they have not previously been rated.

BUT when I log in to either account and try to rate an entry that was initially rated by the other account - it will not let me.

My only guess is that it is a IP address or cookie related restriction? - i.e. you cannot rate an item twice from the same PC?

Loz, this is the way Rating works. You can not rate one and the same entry from the same account or IP address twice.

Natashko, Thanks for your response but I've tried to rate an entry that was initially rated by the other account from my own PC over the last couple of days. Because I am on mobile broadband, my IP address would have changed several times. Hence i'd have thought the i'd have been allowed to rate the entry from the account that had not previously rated the entry.

I am trying to get some friends to test it from a new account from their PC's at the moment, but with it being UK Bank holiday, can't find anyone at home at the moment.

I'll update here as soon as i get a definite response from my friends.

Update:- worked from friends account. Dont fully understand techincal bits - but happy anyway
