Hello Guys,

I know the answers for my questions are provided somewhere here, but as I want to get my website up soon I wanted to straightaway ask these questions.

I have designed my website and have all my pages in my hard disk.

Can anyone explain to me step by step as to what I have to do next. I am not that much of a knowledgeble person in regards to all this so please explain to me in simple terms.

I have doubts as to whether i have to paste my html code into the ucoz builder or how it works?

As i am a free member here i understand i have to have the ucoz banner in my website. should i have it in all the pages of my website or just the homepage? so should i just leave the footer code as it is(as i understand the footer code is the ucoz banner)and change the rest to implement my own design?

My sample page: http://cashpromowiz.ucoz.com/

what have i done wrong here?

Please help

Thanks in advance

I suggest you go to Control panel->Page Editor->Add new page->tag the checkbox "Apply personal template to the page" at the bottom of the page->Save. Then go to Design->Design management (templates)->Page editor. You will see the page that you have created there and you will be able to paste your HTML code there.

Mandatory uCoz banner will appear on the website, not to worry(there is no code responsible for that in the footer). But make sure that you have $ POWERED_BY $ code in each template of your website. (it is responsible for uCoz copyright)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your replies.

I know you guys are trying to help me but I being a dumb head doesn't seem to understand things that are a cakewalk for others. Anyway I don't want this to stop me from getting my first website live.

Tell me whether this is possible.

When I create a website in UNET. It automatically creates a homepage for me. What I want to do is just copy my original homepage code from my hard disk into this homepage created my unet. So i get the homepage that I want.

As a 2nd step I just want to upload the remaining pages of my website in to the unet file manager and I just copy and paste the $POWERED BY$ code into each of these pages manually.

Did I make myself clear?

Tell me whether this is a right way of doing it.

Thank you.

Step 2 doesn't work if you upload the HTML files , you need to paste the HTML pages into CP ---> Design ---> Design management (templates) ---> the module you want to change and then you can add $POWERED_BY$ , but Note, that all this re-coding will not be easy , there's alot of thinking involved and recoding to make modules work correctly

you can create your own homepage with a seperate HTML page or you could do it the way i just explained in the first option above or natashko's way which seems the most obvious way

Yes, this is the way the system works. This link might be helpful, when creating the home page using HTMl files: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/5-2540-1

First of all, if you decide to do it this way, you do not have to paste $POWERED BY$. But I suggest you do not do it like this, because in this way your website consists of static pages only. If you need a simple static site constructed of html pages, uCoz is not what you need. If you do not use at least one of the modules - the website is considered to be dead and is going to be removed for inactivity by the system.

But again, the thing that I have suggested you in my first post seems to be the easiest solution for all of your problem. I suggest you it try first and then ask questions.

I'm not sure if I should create a new discussion for this or if it's okay for me to just post it here, but I'm putting it here, because you mentioned the banner automatically appearing without any code.
I need some clarification about that uCoz banner. I recently created a website, which I haven't really started changing yet, and I don't see the banner on my site. It doesn't seem to matter what I view the site as, or if I'm even signed in. Even on my iPod, the banner isn't there. I'm doing the free hosting, so the banner should be there. And when I looked at the source code of another website on uCoz, I saw the code for its banner. I don't know what's going on, or if there's actually an issue, but I thought I should ask. I tried turning off my pop-up blocker, in case that was blocking the banner, but it still isn't there.
Could someone go to my site and tell me if the banner is there? I don't know what's going on, but I don't want to get in trouble because the banner won't work.

OK! if i have understood you rigth, you have your custom template in your HDD and you want to make it to the site at the same time you dont want to Block the Banner. Well by my evaluation then you have to know some HTML and CSS to survive so far so just follow this steps
1. enter the webpage control panel that is http://yoursite/admin
2. Go to Design --> Template Builder --> Sample Skeleton
About Sample skeleton
Quote

Sample sskeleton will show you how a basic page is required to look like. The ucoz banner in the skeleton is represented by $POWERED_BY$
and Pop Up is represented by <!--<popup>-->Some Codes<!--</popup>-->
then so on and so fort

3. Mould $POWERED_BY$ and any other improtant code i.e $GLOBAL_CLEFTER$ into your template then
4. go to Tools-->Filemanager and upload any images and scripts your site will use
5. Go back to Design --> Template Builder -->and Paste your finished design
6. Go to Design --> Design management CSS and paste your CSS

Rules:
1. if anything goes wrong just resore default template
2. If the above doesnt make sense then you better get someone create you a template or better still use a default one
Good luck

By the banner, I meant the thing at the top. And the popup part of the skeleton is for private messages.
And I never changed the template, I'm still using the default one. The banner just never appeared for me. I don't know what's going on.

ChrisHarris, if you meant mandatory uCoz ad banner - you should know that it is not displayed on the new websites for the first 10 days. But it will appear later, not to worry. Of course, your website is not going to be blocked for that. See more about it here: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/42-13720-1 Further discussion goes in the provided thread.
