I don't log in to every site i belong to every day, so naturally I sometimes forget my login/PW combination.. after two log-in tries on a ucoz affiliated site, I clicked the 'forgot password'.. which faded out, and instead gave me notice that 'due to Excessive attempts, my IP was blocked' and *still is* hours later.., even though I got the PW refresher, logged in to the main UCOZ site, and jumped through the hoops, after discovering there is no such thing as support here, but only this forum...
this is the site..http://oldishpsychprog.ucoz.com/news/
Anyone? I'd appreciate any help!

Doc, IP is usually blocked after 5 attempts and is unblocked within 1 hour but you must not do any new attempts to log in during this period or it will be prolonged.

As for support - there is a ticket system available in your website Control Panel -> Top bar -> Help -> Technical support. There is also the Contact Us link at the bottom of uCoz.com, for general questions.

Well, it let me in after 3 hours, but refreshing the page once , without *any* login attempt, has blocked it AGAIN

I should point out that I also refeshed my cookies and cache after this , and have not made a *single* login attempt in the last 6 hours, yet the page is whited out *again*(, despite it being accessible 15 minutes before..

I can't find the "control panel" of which you speak.. I have a "User bar" with -general which leads mo only to a popup profile with the same top bar, -control , which leads to no control panel, but only "my entries, my comments, notifications of updates, and, site search and,-users -multimedia- , but nothing leads to any help option , or any 'control panel' anywhere.. I've been looking for an hour..
There also is no 'Contact us' link at the bottom of this forum, which is the only part of UCOZ that I can access currently

Did a "contact us" thing.. still no control panel that I have been able to find...
I should point out that it is not login access that is blocked, but actual access to any pages on the website itself...
If I were able to change my IP it would solve the problem, but i'm cursed with a lousy Mac where it is impossible to change one's IP address.. the OS locks it in to the same one permanently..
. and they used to be such good computers...
now they suck..

Update.. I was, an hour later able to view the blog again, and logged in hoping this would not repeat.
I have to say this was an altogether unpleasant experience, and should not have occurred..
I hope all ucoz websites are not the same...

Doc, I would really advise for you to search through all of the FAQ & Tutorials here on the forum, the Control Panel is your sites main settings management area and you need to know how to access (and use) it to fully manage your site as effectively as possible. To access your CP you add /admin to the end of your URL. Do your site's CP will be accessed through: http://oldishpsychprog.ucoz.com/admin.

As to the problem you encountered I'm not sure why it was caused but it appears to have been fixed for quite a while now. If it occurs again feel free to post the details in the appropriate thread.

Most probably there were some scripts on the website that send automatic requests to the server more often than once per minute simply when a visitor is on the website or when he moves a mouse cursor. Only one, maximum two such requests, that work immediately after a page is loaded, are allowed.
