I am trying to post a thread that primarily revolves around an img. so, i uploaded the img to photobucket, copied the url, clicked the "Insert Image" button, pasted the url in front of it, and saved it. i clicked preview and it showed me a code, not an image. next, copied the IMG code directly from photobucket and pasted it, same result. i copied the html code and got the same result. it appears that all permissions are checked to use BB/IMG codes in the forums, as long as youre registered (Im the Admin), but it doesnt work for me. any thoughts?

Niz, did you try to Enable HTML tags when adding the posts ?

Not sure how. There isnt an option to do so when i go to begin/reply to a thread. but when i go into the control panel (where the site is generated), all options are checked to use the codes. ive attached a screen shot of what it looks like coming from the forum itself. as you can see, it doesnt offer the traditional options that most forums do. usually, there is a block that tells you that img and bb codes are allowed or disabled or something. here, there are a set of buttons to use instead. each one shown does work, but the code doesnt present any image. ive tried this with various img links just to make sure that it isnt on photobuckets end, and still nothing. there has to be something i am doing wrong in the configuration.

Niz, go to CP ---> Settings ---> Common Settings ---> Default form type for entry editing: ---> click BBcodes + HTML ---> Save

Just went and changed it. It was in Visual mode, but I made the changes and clicked SAVE. I attached 2 more images of what I did and the result. Basically unchanged. At first, I thought maybe it was a preview error, so I just posted it as a reply and said ta-da. But when it redirected back to the thread, it showed up just like the image shows below. Also, the reply options that i mentioned before havent changed either. Im not sure what to do on that note. Any other thoughts?

Niz, most probably the problem occurs because of % in the link. Please try to post an image link without this character.

Thanks Sunny, but removing that character presents the post with a blank photobucket image that says the image was removed or deleted. Tried simply deleting the character, replacing it with an underscore, a hyphen, and just a blank space.

UPDATE: Decided to go hunting for different images that might have different coding. I found that if an image starts with "[ url=http://blah blah blah.com][img]blah blah[/ img][url]" i can get an image in the forums. if it begins with [img] it does NOT work. any other thoughts with that said? SmugMug was the photo site that used the [ url] based bb code, as to where photobucket uses [ img] based coding. can i change anything in my site script to accept [ img] coding as an acceptable means?

Niz, [img] must work as well. Please provide an image link that is not working on your website and your website address, I'll ask the techs to check it.

uCoz won't pick up your url

There is a space in the url

Try uploading the image to your file manger

Code

Thanks for checking it out Meep, but there actually isnt a space in that code. I did a simple copy/paste job directly from photobucket and thats how it turned out.

I tried pasting it here as a copy from the forum and it said "Unallowable BB codes were found ([URL] or [IMG])" Im thinking that there is something wrong in my script. The file works on other forums, but not mine. If it is a script issue (and keep in mind that I used template 799), how do i fix it?

Here is the direct link for the image, http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m189/Nismospeed/BF3%20Stuff/screenie2.jpg

Feel free to copy and paste the [IMG] code somewhere, just to verify that there isnt any spacing. Maybe we can figure this out. I would really like to be able to have my users link from Photobucket, as its fairly popular and easily recognized. For the time being however, Im offering them an alternative that uses a [URL] code (photobucket doesnt offer one).

Thanks again.

Meep is right, there is a space in the image link - %20 stands for a space. That's why the link is not working.

If you try any other link from photobucket, without a space, it will work just fine, e.g. you can try the following to test

Code
[IMG]http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o525/Sunnata/Penguins.jpg[/IMG]

Thanks Sunny, that's what I didnt understand. I fixed it. It was actually the folder that they were uploaded to. Renamed the folder and now everything is kosher.

Hi...
Feel so sorry for digging this old thread, but I'm having problem with [IMG] code too...
Can't make a photo I uploaded from Picasa work, example: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ftJVpZxiAuQ/TwP788jjz9I/AAAAAAAAAo8/zAfHBL2KyLs/s400/image201201040001.jpg
It appears as {img}https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ftJVpZxiAuQ/TwP788jjz9I/AAAAAAAAAo8/zAfHBL2KyLs/s400/image201201040001.jpg{/img} instead of a photo...

Hmmm...
Thanks God, I've found the problem...
It's because uCoz [IMG] tag doesn't understand https link. Hope this annoying bug is fixed soon...

evendo, it's not a bug, it is how it works - if you follow an image link with https directly, the image is not always displayed as well. The browser often asks about the certificate etc.
