I had a problem with Explorer vs Firefox, still have. Swedish letters was shown wrong in Explorer.
After uploading a page as a test, this page now has changed letters in the html code.
Both in Explorer and Firefox and also in the eding tool here.

Therefore I dl a page from my other site. Shown correctly in both Firefox and Explorer but it was messed up after upload here.

I was about to upload this new site to one.com webhotel but they couldnt find anything wrong with my pages.

It should work after upload. Now I know that it dont work.

But how come, I moved a correctly shown page from one.com to ucoz BUT I first dl the page to my desktop SO it have been on my harddisk.

Help me. What is wrong here? Its the same thing on both my computers and I have 3 boot disk to each of them.

I suspect a local problem but not on all my disks as they are not installed at the same time.

I have now tried to upload the same file to ucoz and to one.com.
The files on ucoz are corrupt but not on one.com

I can see the problem here, you dont want plain old html pages here. (static)

Well, say so! It had saved me a lot of problems and work.

You only accept pages made here or in English.

I cannot say anything without link to those corrupted files/pages.

We do allow to use static pages, but a completely static website is not allowed - http://faq.ucoz.com/faq/0-0-37

Not true. I wrote about static pages above. As for languages - we have 11 languages available for a website by default (including Swedish), besides users can translate their website into many other languages and many of them do this successfully.

Here is the page uploaded http://greenlemons.ucoz.com/presentation.html it is shown wrong in both browsers and in editor.
Also, if I dl this corrupt page, it is also corrupted on my computer so the code have been changed during upload or viewing at ucoz.

I have also tried pure textfiles and the same thing happen, they got corrupted during upload and are corrupted if I dl them.
Something I can not understand.

This page is shown correctly on my computers and with both Firefox and Explorer now but I had problems with Explorer earlier.

It is also shown correctly at my site on one.com with both browsers.

Still problems with the earlier mentioned menu. Explorer cannot show that script and the support at one.com is looking at it now.

The site was ready to upload in october but it fail as I tested it with Explorer.

So, its very frustating now.

Swedish letters are shown correctly if I write them here or in your editor online.

But if I upload the same text, it will be corrupt. Here, but not at one.com.

I suspect that I will have the same problem with my Spanish pages. ñÑöÖäå

Probably the problem is with the encoding.

maybe, it was originally made with unicode. As I got problems with Explorer (not with Firefox) I remove the meta tags and pages was shown correctly in Explorer and also uploaded to one.com.

The pages shown correctly dont have these meta tags created by CoffeCup HTML editor. The pages written with text editor shows correctly too as they dont have these metatags.

http://greenlemons.ucoz.com/presentation.html

Maybe the problem is that I used a html editor, normally I write in notepad and there will be no encoding problems.

I dont understand this encoding thing as it has never been a problem before. Only problem have been the sign for Euro €.

I have discovered one more problem, for some years now there have been no problems with filenames and urls containing "strange" letters but this server does only accept A to Z so there I have one more problem but easy to change filenames and links.

BUT plain textfiles, *.txt (w/o html code) renamed to html was corrupted after upload here.

About my forums, they could stay at one.com.

encoding problem .... could it be .... and problems with the meny script .... is that an encoding problem too?

This is the header made by CoffeCup HTML editor and the start for the menu script (its very long but it works with Firefox)

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html><head><title>Green Lemons</title><!-- Created with the CoffeeCup HTML Editor 2008 --><!-- http://www.coffeecup.com/ --><!-- Brewed on 2009-10-23 23:23:09 -->
<meta content="text/html; charset=unicode" http-equiv="Content-Type">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18828">
<meta name="description" content="">
<meta name="keywords" content="">
<style type="text/css">
<!--
/* Add Hover with color to links */
a:hover {text-decoration: none; color:#FF0000;}
-->
</style>
</head>
<script type='text/javascript'>

function Go(){return}

If I remove the meta tags, Swedish letters shows correctly but no trace of the menu.

Both Swedish and menu works perfectly in Firefox. (incl online at one.com. the menu works perfectly with Firefox, in Explorer, Swedish is now shown correctly but not the menu) Here at ucoz the Swedish letters dont show, menu dont show, and that goes for both Explorer and Firefox.

But this will not explain the corrupted *txt file uploaded here.

My misstake was to think this was only one single problem, it could be several problems.

Now I got a result here. I edited the first two lines here online in filemanager.
That didnt help.
Added the line <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> and now the first two lines show Swedish letters.

I still dont understand, this encoding thing, how can I change the whole page and all the pages and will it help on the menu problem?

The menu contain Swedish letters in the text. If that now could be the reason for not working.
