How can I remove the automatic gift option, to avoid my customers accidentally purchasing something they didn't want?

MyLife4Sale, do you mean the default balance value? It can be customized via Control Panel -> E-shop -> Subagent management -> Settings:



You can put any amount there.

No... I meant, that when someone goes to my site & adds something to their shopping cart, an entirely separate item is placed in their cart as well. A pop up then appears that states something like, "Please note: a gift has been placed in your cart." I would like to remove this setting......

MyLife4Sale, you need to disable the following option in Control Panel -> E-shop -> Module settings:
