Hiding user location |
Hi, I just started a little website hosted by uCoz to preserve a forum community on a dying website, and my friends are just now beginning to sign up. However, most of them are uncomfortable about showing their location as demanded by the uCoz registration on their profiles for all the other users to see, myself included. Is there any way to hide this information from showing up when users look at each other's profiles? I know I can't change the registration myself without having a premium membership: its not that they object to signing up with their location, they just don't want it to show on their user profiles afterwards.
If you have some advice, please explain it to me step by step as though I was three years old - all this web page building stuff is very very new to me. |
Sarah7288, welcome to uCoz! As to your inquiry - it's certainly possible to hide your location on your uID profile, and also on websites you've signed up to uCoz with.
When registering on your profile you'll see the padlock icons to the right of the form which allow you to change the details visibility to. Change this to 'No-one' to keep information private. On your website, you can either remove this field from the profile form in the settings (CP > Users > Module Settings), or otherwise additionally, remove it entirely from the template (CP > Design customisation > User personal page). Jack of all trades in development, design, strategy.
