I dont understand how to use the redirection code. Im trying to put my site in 404.htm mode where when visitors come they would see something like "HTTP 404 Not Found" or however I edit it but I dont know how use the redirection code to redirect them to that page. I also want to be able to still get into my site for maintenence so would it be possible for visitors to come an see the 404.htm mode and yet an Admin can come (me of course) and still see the site as regular.

You should be more attentive and read whole tutorial.

Ok, so I retried the whole thing and something is still wrong. My intro shows up but the linked images take me back to the intro. It seems as if the intro replaced my home page.

You didn't make 'new Main Page' and didn't replace it in Site Menu.
Or you simply added wrong link, not to new Main Page but to old.

I'm doing something terribly wrong. I have the intro created and I tried the redirection on the home page, but the links I put on there go dead.
They work fine when it isn't on the redirection screen. I've read this tutorial forwards and back and it does not seem to like me.

I followed these directions but I'm not quite sure on what to do after:

2. Replace whole pages content with this one:
