Site Search update Issue

I read somewhere that new entries are indexed within 10 days..

We have never seen this @ the site however.

Nothing after september comes up.

We have accumulated hundreds of threads after that.

We have been aware of this issue for a long time but never really brought it up here.

Lately have been getting feedback from members finding our search system useless.

Any hopes in rescanning or updating our index ?

I couldn't open it either - since it's from 2014 it's probably obsolete.

I see the new site.xml there now and seems to be showing the newer threads now... but even tho it is set up for 'newer entries first' the newer entries are not first with searches. They are scattered and embeded throughout pages of other older entries. But I recall it was like that from the start back in '09. The site search always left much to be desired...

So if I understand correctly now; xml file updates after they are deleted since they are not auto updating after a very long time ?

These last xml files were from june 2016.

Clyde, It depends since in my server its auto updating but to some of my website they aren't so it was my immediate fix to solve that problem. I'm glad that you're xml files runs smoothly... smile By the way in search result I couldn't help you more about it since I don't know what is the exact algorithm in a forum search engine.

thanks for the suggestion Cyberdasm...
strange thing with the re-indexing - threads that were removed and/or renamed a long time ago, still show up... the renamed ones show with the old names also. A very disappointing search system.

Clyde, I've forwarded this thread as a possible bug to the team. I've never understood or been overtly aware of the search function features myself. Hopefully we'll get a reply back soon.
