Create sub-menu in site menu builder

I keep trying and trying to move a menu item to the right to make it a sub-menu - it happened once while I dragged the menu item - but I can not recreate this again - is there some trick?

tgf, there is no trick. Point the cursor in the position, when it changes into a big simple cross (like this +) and you will see a small tooltip "Insert" - this is the time, when you can move it.
