General Information

It is possible to attach a custom domain to your uCoz website, e.g. mysite.com, mysite.net etc., for FREE.

  • uCoz gives the possibility of full domain management (creation of subdomains, e-mail accounts etc. if a domain is attached by Method 2);
  • you will be able to create domain-based e-mails (e.g. admin@mysite.com );
  • you can buy a custom domain at uCoz Domains or any other domain registrar;
  • you'll be able to register your website in directories which prohibit registration of free websites;
  • you'll be able to enter banner exchange networks (or advertising companies) where only paid domains are allowed;
  • with a custom domain users will never lose your website, even if you change the hosting service, the website URL will remain the same;
  • with a custom domain search engines will give you a higher place in search results.

Domain Attachment FAQ

Question: How can I create a subdomain?

Answer: Please see the following guide: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-435-6436-16-1218803195

Question: Can I attach two domains to my website?

Answer: No, it is not possible.

Question: Can I change the ucoz domain, e.g.: mysite.ucoz.co.uk to mysiteEtc.ucoz.co.uk. Is this allowed and how?

Answer: No, once you have chosen a domain name you cannot change it, you can only create a new website.

Question: How do i setup my uCoz web page in my own domain? I did try but failed. I can see this error message:

The domain djcaner.biz has been parked but not yet attached to the account.
Domain has incorrect set of name servers: ns1.hostavrupa.net, ns2.hostavrupa.net
The following list of the name servers must be applied: ns1.ucoz.net, ns2.ucoz.net

Answer: The system gives you the answer: You must change the name servers in the domain control panel (your account on the website where you registered the domain).

1. How to Attach a Domain by Method 2: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-18149-1
2. How to Attach a Domain by Method 3: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-18150-1

What's the difference between Method 2 and Method 3?

When you use Method 2, your new domain is hosted at uCoz servers. If you use Method 3 - you just change the domain name (to be more precise you just get one more name for your site because it will be accessible by both names - the new one and the old one) but your domain remains hosted at another registrar's servers. So the difference is in the place where your new domain is hosted - either at uCoz or not.

"IP Address 195.216.243.104 (ns1.ucoz.net) is listed in the Spamhaus Block List."

Steven, The same question was asked three posts above.

Hi! Sorry, if it has been mentioned yet, but when I tried to set up my co.cc domain, it said:

"IP Address 195.216.243.104 (ns1.ucoz.net) is listed in the Spamhaus Block List."

Even if I try "Zone Records " it says the same. What can I do now?

DaveedBrown, DEEPKG,
I suggest you contact the domain name registrar and explain that ns1.ucoz.net is ns-server of a free web-hosting.

Help Please

I have a requiremnet to create (initially) 6 web sites, which whilst all belonging to me (my company) will be related to completely seperate subjects.

My understanding is that if i use subdomains i.e. mainsite.com, site2.mainsite.com site3.mainsite.com then there will be several limitations regarding search engines etc - and i will not be able to optimise them sufficiently. -------- If my understanding is wrong - please correct me and explain.

If the above understanding is correct then I believe the best way forward would be to have mainsite.com, site2.com, site3.com etc. With this mind that would mean that I would then not be able to transfer all of these domains to ONE ucoz account containing the created websites. On that basis, would I then be better having MULTIPLE ucoz accounts - one per website required.

I need the answer to this at this early stage so as to prevent me re-doing design in another account etc.

Hope this makes sense.

PredatoR, go to domain.com ( to buy domain ) then you will see a search box to search domain , type your domain and choose .com or .co or .org ....and press SEARCH
you will see now if the domain you want is available or not , insomniateam.COM is available for $10.47/year , un check the domains you dont want and press ADD TO CART , and when you open your cart , you will see a CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT text.

We are aware of the problem and we are trying our best to resolve it. Try to use the third method of domain attachment in the meantime

Website optimization is totally up to you. The only limitation at our end is a 30 day quarantine. See more about it here: http://faq.ucoz.com/faq/0-0-29

It is really up to you. You may have a separate account for each website (subdomain) Or have all of the websites on one account. (uNet account)It doesn't really matter. But maybe I didn't understand you, so be more specific.

If I bought the uCoz paid package #1 for 12 months, that would come with a domain. But if I bought it and I already transferred my uCoz site to a top level domain (one that's like .com or .net or whatever) would I receive that extra domain? Or would I just receive the other features without the domain?

So I would receive an extra domain? Would it come with all of the other features as well or would I have to choose between to apply which features to which domain?

This is really about the several debates I have seen on the web concerning using either subdomains or totally seperate sites and the effect this has on search engines

As this is my first commercial venture onto the web, I was after the expert opinion of ucoz before proceeding.

I have since read more and more info, and believe that because my sites will for 'total seperate subjects' then a subdomain solution is quite reasonable because the search engines will optimise them sufficiently.

If my sites were on the same subject and simply a duplication of each others content in a different format then (with a subdomain solution) the search engines would have penalised the sites, considering them as spam like.

Conclusion - I'm happy to proceed with one unet account - Thanks for all your help.

If you want to transfer your uCoz website to another hosting, this will be helpful: http://faq.ucoz.com/faq/0-0-38

but they tell me to change the DNS.

You can change DNS servers in the Control panel of the domain name (where you have purchased domain) So it is better to forward this question to zymic.com
