REGISTRATION OF AN ACCOUNT

1. To register an account follow the Registration link or click on 'CREATE A WEBSITE' (If you already have a uNet profile you may start reading from item 11). You will have to fill in the form of uNet registration. All the fields are required. Remember that personal information is never disclosed except as required by the applicable legislation.
2. Enter your email. It must be a working email which you will need to confirm and which will be used as your uNet account username. In case of error you will see a warning – red X with explanation.

3. Then you should enter a password. It can contain only Latin letters, digits, a hyphen and an underscore. It is also desirable to choose a password that is impossible to guess, e.g. kDi3p9S. Minimal password length is 6 characters, maximal – 15 characters. Password is case sensitive, which means that the passwords "Password6" and "password6" will be considered to be different. If the password satisfies the requirements you will see a green checkmark, otherwise a red X will mean an error.

4. Next step – enter you name, last name and nickname. When entering the first and last names you can select whom they will be visible for at Unet – All, Friends or Nobody.
5. Enter other personal data – date of birth, gender and location.
6. Next step – security code. Remember that if it is difficult to read you can click the image and it will change.
7. And the last step – read and agree to Terms of Use
8. After you have filled in all the fields (they must be marked with green checkmarks) click “Register”. The registration has been completed and now you must confirm your email. Log in to your email account, open the message from uNet and click on the confirmation link. You will have to confirm your registration by means of entering a security code.

9. You will be redirected to Webtop (Web Desktop). Here you need to fill in the Webtop sign up fields: set "Webtop password", "Secret question" and "Answer"(you must remember them, it is important), and enter current uNet password (the password you entered during registration). Click "Save" button.

10. Now you are in your Webtop. From here you can create websites – as many as you can manage. (To log in to Webtop in future go to uNet.com, enter your registration e-mail and Webtop password to log in to Webtop, or registration e-mail and uNet password to log in to your uNet profile.)
11. After you have filled in the data you will see a new window where you can start creating your own website. (To create more websites in future click “My websites” icon → “New website” tab). Enter a name of your new website and select a domain. Click “Continue”.
13. If the name you have chosen is not in use, you will see the following message. Click on “Website Control Panel” to log in to the control panel (CP) of your new website. In future you will be able to log in to the CP either from Webtop -> My websites -> CP or by the address http://your_website_url/admin. (Note: CP password is the same as Webtop password. If you want to change it you can this in CP -> Security)
14. During your first login you should make the initial configurations. First of all enter website name, select one of the available designs and languages for your website.
15. Next step – select the modules you will need. You will be able to install/uninstall any of them at any time.

16. That’s all. Now you are in the control panel of your website and can customize the website as you like. The website itself is available on the Internet by the address you have chosen.

REMOVAL OF A WEBSITE
A website can be deleted from its Control panel. Website removal means complete deletion of your site together with entries and files. After you have removed a website you won’t be able to log into the Control Panel with the current username and password.
1. Before you delete a website make sure that you don’t need the content. Follow the link «Website removal» on the main page of your Control panel
2.Enter the password and the answer to the secret question in the form that will appear
3.If you have made a mistake in the password of the secret question the system won't allow you to remove your account
After you have deleted the website you will be automatically redirected to the main page of the system - www.ucoz.com

If you can’t register and the system gives out "Access denied!" or there are probably incorrect settings of your browser or firewall.
Look through the recommendations below. If it doesn’t help describe your actions, provide system errors and a screenshot.

The most common problem is that your browser doesn’t send the referrer.

What is to be done?

You may try to use another browser – maybe its settings are more correct.

If you use Opera:
Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Network > "Enable referrer logging" .

(this option is usually enabled by default).

Another type of the problem: if you were filling in the registration form for more than 15 minutes the security code won’t be accepted correctly. You must start from the very beginning (refresh the image).

If you have Outpost Firewall installed read the following hints:

For those who use Outpost 2008, and maybe some earlier versions.

The option of referrers blocking is enabled by default.
This option prevents from registering at uCoz system and gives out "Access denied!" after you have filled in "Site address (login)".
It’s better to disable this option, at least for the time of registration.
However, it is recommended to disable it at all: this option doesn’t influence security, and just doesn’t permit sites to know from what URLs you have come to them (i.e. to collect general statistics and not your personal data). Enabling of this option can lead to errors not only at uCoz but also a number of other resources, in particular when downloading files.

How to disable?

Find Outpost Settings > Web Control > Customize and change to allow referrers.

If, I'm correct, then if no one logs in into their website or it's CP, owner of website receives an e-mail where he/she is given a warning that his/her website is inactive & to continue it's existence, he/she must confirm the given link in the e-mail.
Otherwise the website will be deleted.

I'm not quite sure what's the time period, though. Could be around a month (at least one of my test websites was removed around a month later after I didn't log into it).

Thank you for your help

Added (2009-02-06, 3:12 Am)
---------------------------------------------
I found from FAQ

[14] Where has my site gone? The system gives out "SITE NOT FOUND"!
In uCoz system the cleanings of inactive ("dead") sites are constantly running. A site is considered to be dead if no one has visited it for 40 days. If you use .html files as your site, the visitors on the site are not taken into account and such sites are also removed in 40 days. According to the system rules you should use at least 1 content module (blog, news, catalogs, forum, guestbook etc.). If you need a simple static site constructed of html pages, uCoz does not suit you.
The system does not remove the sites at once, it marks them for removal (thus they do not work); the site has this status for the next 15 days and during this period registration of a site with the same address is impossible. While the site is being marked for removal, it is still possible to restore it. However we can restore only a site that contains sufficient amount of entries, we do not restore empty sites!

We do not carry any responsibility for your unwillingness to observe the elementary rules of our system.

aposperittis, you wont lose all sites. To delete website, login in the websites control panel
and remove the account. It wont affect other websites because it's not their Control Panel.

.......thanks for both of your replies but I can't find it.

If I login I get to the Webtop interface and there are only to icons:

Create a website and My websites

Please forgive me if I'm being stupid but still give me a hand here.

Thanks again.......

benjapakee, not in the uNet. In your websites control panel option of
account removal will be located. As for uNet profiles, you can't delete it.
