Domain Transfer: General Discussion |
General Information It is possible to attach a custom domain to your uCoz website, e.g. mysite.com, mysite.net etc., for FREE.
Domain Attachment FAQ Question: How can I create a subdomain? Answer: Please see the following guide: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-435-6436-16-1218803195 Question: Can I attach two domains to my website? Answer: No, it is not possible. Question: Can I change the ucoz domain, e.g.: mysite.ucoz.co.uk to mysiteEtc.ucoz.co.uk. Is this allowed and how? Answer: No, once you have chosen a domain name you cannot change it, you can only create a new website. Question: How do i setup my uCoz web page in my own domain? I did try but failed. I can see this error message: The domain djcaner.biz has been parked but not yet attached to the account. Domain has incorrect set of name servers: ns1.hostavrupa.net, ns2.hostavrupa.net The following list of the name servers must be applied: ns1.ucoz.net, ns2.ucoz.net Answer: The system gives you the answer: You must change the name servers in the domain control panel (your account on the website where you registered the domain). 1. How to Attach a Domain by Method 2: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-18149-1 2. How to Attach a Domain by Method 3: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/54-18150-1 What's the difference between Method 2 and Method 3? When you use Method 2, your new domain is hosted at uCoz servers. If you use Method 3 - you just change the domain name (to be more precise you just get one more name for your site because it will be accessible by both names - the new one and the old one) but your domain remains hosted at another registrar's servers. So the difference is in the place where your new domain is hosted - either at uCoz or not. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Please contact other forum staff.

NTP, if one domain was attached without problems and other not, I think that the problem might be with the domain itself. I suggest that you contact uCoz Tech. Support via your Control Panel, and try to contact the co.cc support as well.

vdb, first of all go to SUBDOMAIN section of this post: http://forum.ucoz.com/forum/37-435-6436-16-1218803195
1. Follow steps 1,2,3 as it is described and shown on screenshots. 2. In step 4, enter the desired subdomain, e.g. domain.mysite.com. As for IP, select "arbitrary IP" on the drop-down list and enter the IP which Blogger gives you. 3. Then you need to attach the subdomain domain.mysite.com to your Blogger website. Here I cannot help as I do not know what is the attachment procedure at Blogger. I'm not active on the forum anymore. Please contact other forum staff.

Hey,
This might sound like a silly question, though I'm really not sure on it, and want to clear things up. I have a domain attached to my site already, and I bought a new one, though I want to remove the old one, and replace it with the new one and before I do this it says: "Change of the domain name means that search engines will have to reindex your site from the very beginning and all links with the previous domain name won't work." What I don't understand is, will this clear my site or something? And erase the information off it? Just want to clear things up, thanks. -- Mark |
Quote (Bloodyboy450) "Change of the domain name means that search engines will have to reindex your site from the very beginning and all links with the previous domain name won't work." It's telling you that Google, Yahoo!, Bing and any other search engines will re-read your website with the new domain which means, if a Google search for "Bloody Boy" returns your download page on your website, it might no longer work or will only work after your website has been re-indexed. So no information will be lost? OK. Thanks. :).
Also, how long does re-indexed thing take to happen? |
Quote (Bloodyboy450) So no information will be lost? OK. Thanks. :). Also, how long does re-indexed thing take to happen? Nope, no information will be lost on your side. Re-indexing of websites take a reasonable amount of time depending on how many users visit your website. For example, try to Google for Shadow Slash and you should be presented with my website. The re-indexing of my website took roughly 1-2 months. "Friends don't let friends use Internet Explorer 6." - Microsoft || Join the cause. Help your friends.

I have around 300 pages on my site, so it will take quite awhile to reindex the site? Or does it only matter with how many visitors you have on the site?

It will probably take a while to re-index all 300 pages from your website. That isn't the case for pages that your visitors will most likely always view. Alright so main pages like home page... toolbar... guides stuff like that is most visited, will be re-indexed faster?
Alright thanks a lot for all your help! :] -- Mark Added (2010-08-16, 10:53 Am) -- Thanks, |
